By relying on books I-IV of Oribasius’ Collectiones medicae, which address the powers of foods and their methods of cooking, in the first section of this contribution, we will present the authors mentioned by Oribasius and how the physician of the emperor Julian the Apostate arranges the material excerpted from them. In the second part, through a comparison of Oribasius’ book IV, 1 (taken as a sample passage) and Galen’s original, we will try to point out the stylistic characteristics of Oribasius’ prose.

Abstract
By relying on books I-IV of Oribasius’ Collectiones medicae, which address the powers of foods and their methods of cooking, in the first section of this contribution, we will present the authors mentioned by Oribasius and how the physician of the emperor Julian the Apostate arranges the material excerpted from them. In the second part, through a comparison of Oribasius’ book IV, 1 (taken as a sample passage) and Galen’s original, we will try to point out the stylistic characteristics of Oribasius’ prose.File in questo prodotto:
