The paper presents practical implications of implementing traceability systems in fruit supply chain (Emilia-Romagna, Italy). The adoption of a traceability system is dependent upon technological level, market orientation and, co-ordination between supply chain operators. Different fruit supply chains have been described considering the actors involved and their role. Information constraints, which influence its collection and the value it creates, have been categorised. Transaction cost theory has been hypothesised to provide a suitable tool for understanding part of the costs for traceability. With respect to traceability procedures, co-ordination issues have been examined.

Abstract
The paper presents practical implications of implementing traceability systems in fruit supply chain (Emilia-Romagna, Italy). The adoption of a traceability system is dependent upon technological level, market orientation and, co-ordination between supply chain operators. Different fruit supply chains have been described considering the actors involved and their role. Information constraints, which influence its collection and the value it creates, have been categorised. Transaction cost theory has been hypothesised to provide a suitable tool for understanding part of the costs for traceability. With respect to traceability procedures, co-ordination issues have been examined.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
