Building on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, this chapter emphasizes every child’s right to healthy and positive development, particularly addressing how this right applies to children with language delays or “late-talkers”. It emphasizes the importance of “nurturing care” promoting the well-being of children, particularly from birth to age three, a critical window for brain development. Nurturing care involves creating a safe and enriched environment where children can reach their full potential, supported by active parental and community involvement. This concept is especially relevant for children with language delay, as this condition can profoundly impact their global development, influencing not only the communicative domain, but also the cognitive, emotional, and social ones. The chapter reviews research on interventions that have proven effective in fostering language development. It also highlights the key role of families, educators, and health professionals in fostering nurturing environments for late-talkers.
