This essay is not about remembering the importance of Delle statue antiche by Ulisse Aldrovandi in the study of History of art and the History of Artistic literature. The description written during the Bolognese naturalist’s second stay in Rome is one of the key sources to uncover the history of the collection of ancient sculptures in Rome and the History of the Antiquaries during the 15th century. The aim of this article is to focus on a fresh angle, a different analysis of the description by Aldrovandi, as we can find in its pages a lot of information, observations useful for the history of the restoration and conservation of works of art. This source offers a fresh perspective which can contribute to the opening of new research perspectives for such disciplines.
