This chapter shows how during the first decade of the 21st century the corpus methodology established itself as one of the major paradigms in linguistics, corpus linguistics (CL). It starts by providing basic definitions of corpora with their research applications and provides a critical overview of corpus-based translation studies (CTS) and corpus-based interpreting studies (CIS). In particular it tackles historical perspectives, core issues, topics and methods, current debates and future directions of CL, CIS and CTS.
