In the wake of the rich debate developed by the observers of the Eighteenth-century Revolutions, this paper will offer some considerations on the concept of civil liberty formulated by Richard Price in his political writings. In particular, after having briefly reconstructed the fundamental features of the Welsh preacher’s elaboration, it will focus on some objections respectively raised by Adam Ferguson and John Wesley, which will call into question the problem of limitation in law and its popular foundation.
