The aim of this work is to shed light on the food practices in the prehistoric settlement of Mursia (1750-1450 B.C.), through the analysis of the ceramic vessels suitable for the consumption of liquids (dipping, moving, pouring, drinking). Cups, handled goblets and ladle cups are classified on the basis of functional elements, taking into account the relationship between the shape of the containers, the actions which they make possible and the various ways in which they can be used. The symbolic value of some vessels and the existence of a typical “service pottery “ assemblage can help in understanding the modes of consumption and the role of the pottery in a specific sicilian Bronze Age context.

Abstract
The aim of this work is to shed light on the food practices in the prehistoric settlement of Mursia (1750-1450 B.C.), through the analysis of the ceramic vessels suitable for the consumption of liquids (dipping, moving, pouring, drinking). Cups, handled goblets and ladle cups are classified on the basis of functional elements, taking into account the relationship between the shape of the containers, the actions which they make possible and the various ways in which they can be used. The symbolic value of some vessels and the existence of a typical “service pottery “ assemblage can help in understanding the modes of consumption and the role of the pottery in a specific sicilian Bronze Age context.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
