The affirmation of modern architecture in Colombia, around the 1930s, counted on the contribution of European architects and engineers who arrived in the country in different circumstances who, together with Colombian professionals trained abroad, led the change of direction in architecture and in urban planning. Starting from the reconstruction of the reference framework, the book aims to deepen the relationship between the European contribution and the Colombian context, analyzing the figure and work of the Italian architect Bruno Violi (Milan, 1909 - Bogotá, 1971). Four buildings built in Bogotá between 1950 and 1960 are presented as case studies, to clarify the transversal form through which Violi interpreted this dialectical exchange, combining his European experiences with some key themes of the Colombian architectural debate, such as the importance of technology and the interpretation of the geographical and cultural environment.
