In this work is examinated the declamation 322, which many authors think was written by Quintilian, in the middle of the Roman imperial age. It represents, equally to the other declamations, an invented situation, used as a school simulation to improve skills and oratorical techniques. The work contains a lot of thoughts about an historical and anthropological context that is mutating, where appears the figure of a father less strict and more human than the classic stereotype of republican ‘pater familias’, and the imagine of a cruel tyrant, ready to rip off the freedom to citizens and to establish an absolute power. The declamation also invites to respect the judiciary and to rely on public institutions, the only guarantors of justice for the people.

Abstract
In this work is examinated the declamation 322, which many authors think was written by Quintilian, in the middle of the Roman imperial age. It represents, equally to the other declamations, an invented situation, used as a school simulation to improve skills and oratorical techniques. The work contains a lot of thoughts about an historical and anthropological context that is mutating, where appears the figure of a father less strict and more human than the classic stereotype of republican ‘pater familias’, and the imagine of a cruel tyrant, ready to rip off the freedom to citizens and to establish an absolute power. The declamation also invites to respect the judiciary and to rely on public institutions, the only guarantors of justice for the people.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
