LA SOSTENIBILITÀ DELLA TRASFORMAZIONE DIGITALE: TRA TUTELA DELLA CONCORRENZA E “SOVRANITÀ TECNOLOGICA EUROPEA”

The long period of “entropic” crisis that we have been going through for some time now appears to be characterised by a twofold order of “conflicts”, corresponding, on the one hand, to the evolutionary tensions generated by the irreversible presence of technology in society, and, on the other, to the great historical turning point of “sustainability”, which has made the environmental issue the centre of gravity of decisions concerning the relationship between the State and the market and has thus given rise to numerous systemic consequences. Both phenomena play a key role in pursuing the goal of greater competitiveness and strategic autonomy of the European Union. This paper analyses the contribution of sustainability to the possibility of strategically oriented innovation, looking at potential synergies between competition protection and the pursuit of European technological sovereignty.
