For instance despite the improvement in pharmacologic management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), in home long term oxygen therapy and non invasive ventilation, mortality due to this disease is still high.1,2 In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has warned citizens of high income countries about the persistent unpleasant possibility that humans may die while inducing delay in management of “common” respiratory diseases, thus leading to increase in mortality.
