Beginning in the 1980s, several critiques from the sphere of radical feminism emphasized the oppressive and anti-egalitarian effect, produced to the detriment of women, of the circulation of pornographic material. These positions have then in turn stimulated a whole series of critical and contrary theses, which also emerged in feminist circles, mobilized in defense of the liberating value of pornographic material itself. This paper aims to contribute to the debate by analytically sifting through the arguments underlying the theses that have emerged in this second order of positions, with particular regard to the arguments externalized at the height of the debate in relation to the benefits pornography would bring to the female condition, all the way to the post-porn projectuality of the present day, evaluated also in light of the current knowledge offered to us by neuroscience on the functioning of our mental mechanisms.

Abstract
Beginning in the 1980s, several critiques from the sphere of radical feminism emphasized the oppressive and anti-egalitarian effect, produced to the detriment of women, of the circulation of pornographic material. These positions have then in turn stimulated a whole series of critical and contrary theses, which also emerged in feminist circles, mobilized in defense of the liberating value of pornographic material itself. This paper aims to contribute to the debate by analytically sifting through the arguments underlying the theses that have emerged in this second order of positions, with particular regard to the arguments externalized at the height of the debate in relation to the benefits pornography would bring to the female condition, all the way to the post-porn projectuality of the present day, evaluated also in light of the current knowledge offered to us by neuroscience on the functioning of our mental mechanisms.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
