This article explores the issues surrounding the agro-ecological transition in the European wine industry, focusing on the reduction of pesticide use and the development of organic certification and genetic research for resistant grape varieties. Stakeholders from the wine industry, institutions, and agricultural research are distinguished in the study. The findings reveal that the agro-ecological transition is consistently identified as a priority, specifically in terms of pesticide reduction. However, variations exist among surveyed stakeholders. French and Portuguese stakeholders highlight the role of market and societal pressure as catalysts for the transition, contrary to Italian producers. Professionals in France and Portugal express doubts about achieving pesticide reduction through practice changes, while other stakeholders believe in the significance of regulatory constraints. The research also highlights industry challenges, such as decreased consumption due to health awareness and the need for social responsibility. Resistant grape varieties are seen as a credible solution, in particular for the development of organic production, but market acceptability remains a major obstacle. The study elucidates stakeholder perspectives and challenges, contributing to a deeper understanding of priorities in the European wine industry's pursuit of sustainable practices.

Abstract
The study elucidates stakeholder perspectives and challenges, contributing to a deeper understanding of priorities in the European wine industry's pursuit of sustainable practices.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
