This contribution deals with a number of issues concerning families and visual impairment, focusing on the one hand on the encounter between helping relationship professionals, rehabilitation professionals and families, and on the other hand on mediators. With reference to the latter, the usefulness in relational/affective, communicative and cognitive terms of TIB (Tactiles Illustrated Books) is highlighted.
