Within the entrepreneurship research domain, the measurement of key constructs, such as the Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO), is becoming a critical issue. No previous attempts have been made to simultaneously provide a multidimensional characterization of EO and to propose a set of antecedents for that measure. Thus, to further refine our understanding of research methods in entrepreneurship, we return a comprehensive study of EO by both testing the validity and robustness of EO construct and assessing the nomological validity of its antecedents causal path. Our analyses are based on a sample of 200 entrepreneurs. The measurement models show that EO is a multi-dimensional micro-founded construct that is better represented by a three components second-order factor and is predicted by situationally-specific motivation, individual skills and perception of the business environment.

Abstract
Within the entrepreneurship research domain, the measurement of key constructs, such as the Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO), is becoming a critical issue. No previous attempts have been made to simultaneously provide a multidimensional characterization of EO and to propose a set of antecedents for that measure. Thus, to further refine our understanding of research methods in entrepreneurship, we return a comprehensive study of EO by both testing the validity and robustness of EO construct and assessing the nomological validity of its antecedents causal path. Our analyses are based on a sample of 200 entrepreneurs. The measurement models show that EO is a multi-dimensional micro-founded construct that is better represented by a three components second-order factor and is predicted by situationally-specific motivation, individual skills and perception of the business environment.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
