We evaluated attention and memory functions in 8 patients with normal IQ, affected by partial epilepsy or sporadic seizures, who presented subcontinuous/continuous EEG paroxysmal abnormalities during sleep. We found an impairment of attention in 5/8 cases, of memory in 3/8 cases. A deficit of these cognitive functions may be a pathogenetic mechanism for the learning disorders, that are often present in patients with frequent EEG paroxysmal abnormalities during sleep.

Abstract
We evaluated attention and memory functions in 8 patients with normal IQ, affected by partial epilepsy or sporadic seizures, who presented subcontinuous/continuous EEG paroxysmal abnormalities during sleep. We found an impairment of attention in 5/8 cases, of memory in 3/8 cases. A deficit of these cognitive functions may be a pathogenetic mechanism for the learning disorders, that are often present in patients with frequent EEG paroxysmal abnormalities during sleep.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
