The association between posterior fossa malformations (PFM) and epilepsy is rarely reported in literature. The authors describe 54 cases with PFM where epileptic seizures recurred in 40.7%. Epilepsy was not related to the type of PFM and other supratentorial cerebral associated lesions. Familial antecedents for epilepsy/FC (p<0.01), profound mental retardation (p<0.01), EEG paroxysmal abnormalities (p<0.001) and asymmetry (p<0.01) prevailed in patients with epilepsy.

Abstract
The association between posterior fossa malformations (PFM) and epilepsy is rarely reported in literature. The authors describe 54 cases with PFM where epileptic seizures recurred in 40.7%. Epilepsy was not related to the type of PFM and other supratentorial cerebral associated lesions. Familial antecedents for epilepsy/FC (p<0.01), profound mental retardation (p<0.01), EEG paroxysmal abnormalities (p<0.001) and asymmetry (p<0.01) prevailed in patients with epilepsy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
