The concept of voluntary servitude goes back to our present in order to the crisis of the forms of representative democracy. The essay briefly traces the genesis and elaboration of the political concept of voluntary servitude, identifying on the one hand the critical function towards the political concept of sovereignty and on the other the dialectic, complex and contradictory, with the political concept of freedom.
