This paper shows an analysis on the state of the art in the field of stereotactic surgery focusing on new proposals for the use of a thermoplastic mask in this area. Once the criticalities of the analysed systems have been evaluated, the introduction of two new surgical techniques will follow, which integrate the thermoplastic mask with a customized dental bite to improve the existing systems. Finally, benefits, possible critical issues, and future developments of the proposed techniques will be discussed.
