This article deals with the issue of homework by analyzing the interactions between children attending primary school and their mothers during homework correction. The aim is to identify the modes of communication and the recurrent practices adopted by the parents to support their children in this activity. The research, which is of an ethnographical nature, uses a discourse analysis approach based on the analysis of transcripts of a video corpus that allowed the identification of communicative exchanges through which parents and children co- constructed meanings and actions aimed at correcting homework. The way these mothers interacted showed that they were familiar with the school's culture, disciplinary languages, and its artifacts and, therefore, all seemed to fit the idea of an institutionally competent parent.

Abstract
