Professional development of academics as teachers was recognized as one of the key determinants for enhancing the quality of learning and teaching in higher education, a strategic goal identified as the core mission of the Bologna Process in order to respond to the challenges posed by socio-cultural and economic changes and the growth and diversification of students. In relation to this issues, the contribution presents the assumptions, objectives and design of a research project aimed at investigating the potential of video analysis as a training tool to foster the improvement of teaching skills of university teachers.
