Filtration through porour media is one of the main processes that take place in the interaction between waves and Low Crested Structures (LCSs). The paper analyzes filtration flow patterns and velocity fields inside and around porous media through wave flume experiments and 2DV numerical simulations using the COBRAS (Cornell Breaking Waves and Structures) code. The modelcapability to reproduce different resistance patterns is verified on a wide range of experiments on porous structures considering small and large scale. Since the model doesn't present unique calibration parameters, the original code has been enhanced introducing a filtration formula that explitely describes the resistance dependence on the Reynolds number.

Abstract
Filtration through porour media is one of the main processes that take place in the interaction between waves and Low Crested Structures (LCSs). The paper analyzes filtration flow patterns and velocity fields inside and around porous media through wave flume experiments and 2DV numerical simulations using the COBRAS (Cornell Breaking Waves and Structures) code. The modelcapability to reproduce different resistance patterns is verified on a wide range of experiments on porous structures considering small and large scale. Since the model doesn't present unique calibration parameters, the original code has been enhanced introducing a filtration formula that explitely describes the resistance dependence on the Reynolds number.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
