« Viri illustres ad memoriam Dantis Aleghieri celebrandam » : Bologna in the Sixth Centenary of Dante’s Death (1921) · Although not among the cities financed by the Ministry to celebrate the sixth centenary of Dante’s death in 1921, Bologna equally wanted to honour Dante’s memory. It did so through a civic committee officially chaired by the Prefectual Commissioner Ferrero, but in fact led by Professor Alfredo Galletti. The committee organised « popular » and « solemn » lectures, which reached their peak on 6 November, when in the presence of Queen Margherita, the Carducci House Library was inaugurated. Subsequently, in the Archiginnasio Galletti closed the Dante celebrations with a solemn lecture, which also served as the inauguration of the academic year 1921-1922 in honour of the Supreme Poet.
