In recent years the debate on the definition of quality in the field of interlingual subtitles has grown fast. Especially in the presence of new types of non-professional subtitling (NPS) that have found fertile ground on the Internet showing how taxonomies produced by academics cannot always be declined for all spectators. This study introduces the Japanese Film Selection (JFS) project which takes shape in May 2019 within the Takamori Cultural Association. From a quality perspective, the offline activity presented in this study fits into a pro-am logic that is halfway between the altruistic action of fansubbers and the philological rigor towards the source texts typical of genuine subtitles.

Abstract
In recent years the debate on the definition of quality in the field of interlingual subtitles has grown fast. Especially in the presence of new types of non-professional subtitling (NPS) that have found fertile ground on the Internet showing how taxonomies produced by academics cannot always be declined for all spectators. This study introduces the Japanese Film Selection (JFS) project which takes shape in May 2019 within the Takamori Cultural Association. From a quality perspective, the offline activity presented in this study fits into a pro-am logic that is halfway between the altruistic action of fansubbers and the philological rigor towards the source texts typical of genuine subtitles.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
