When the geographical elements intervene in defining the identity of a territory, they end up to directly influence the character of the built environment and if this issue is related to domestic architecture, such conditions, besides being converted into primary project tools, are intimately tied to the experience of inhabiting. The house-studio that Bruno Violi (Milan, 1909 - Bogotá, 1971) realizes for himself in Bogotá in 1953 is an example to understand this dialectical compromise between domestic architecture and context. The architect chose a land on a steep slope, surrounded by an exuberant vegetation on the eastern hills of the city, where to experiment the union between geometric order and nature, integrating the life of the house with the site's topography, in a continuous dialogue between interior and exterior space, constructed artefact and natural environment, near and far landscape.
