Simulacri del vuoto. Il modello come luogo dello spazio abitabile = Simulacra of emptiness. The model as habitable space

This contribution is part of a study dedicated to the architectural model as a tool able to reveal the formal generative process of the project. This text develops the topic of the relationship between space and form, further analysing the relationship between the scale of the model and the meaning it takes on in a three-dimensional representation of hollow space. In particular, the examination stems from the hypothesis that the more research is oriented towards the study of the relationship between emptiness and the human figure, the more the scale of the model chosen to experiment with spatial qualities approaches real life, a 1:1 scale, and employs an interdisciplinary approach to identify possible points of contact between research conducted in architecture, sculpture and photography.

Il presente contributo si inserisce all’interno di un progetto di ricerca dedicato al modello d’architettura come strumento in grado di rivelare il processo generativo formale del progetto. Il testo sviluppa, in questa sede, il tema del rapporto fra spazio e forma, approfondendo la relazione fra la scala del modello e il significato che essa assume nella restituzione tridimensionale dello spazio cavo. In particolare l’indagine nasce dall’ipotesi che quanto più le ricerche si orientano verso lo studio della relazione fra il vuoto e la figura umana tanto più la scala del modello prescelta per sperimentare le qualità spaziali si avvicini a quella reale, la scala 1:1, e cerca di delineare, secondo un approccio di tipo interdisciplinare, le possibili linee di contatto fra alcune ricerche condotte nell’ambito dell’architettura, della scultura e della fotografia.
