Christine Heiss (SSliMIT Forlì) Deutsche Entsprechungen zu magari: eine Analyse anhand der multimedialen Datenbank Forlixt 1 und anderer Corpora der gesprochenen Sprache Linguistic research on dialogue structures strongly benefits from newly available corpora of spoken language and Umgangssprache. As corpora are becoming increasingly representative and systematically enriched with tags and annotations according to shared criteria and categories, they provide an very valuable empirical foundation for detailed and multilayered analyses. Corpora of spoken language currently differ from one another in that they contain different amounts of linguistic material, cover different languages, communication channels, sociolinguistic variations, geographic areas, and display various kinds of structural and linguistic annotation. In spite of this abundant choice, parallel corpora of spoken language based on reliable translation of spontaneous dialogues are still extremely rare. Available parallel corpora of spoken language are built of monologues or dialogues written to be spoken, i.e. documents of not spontaneous speech. In our contribution we intend to show how to perform contrastive analysis of dialogic structures through combined use of different types of corpora not limited to spontaneous dialogues. We include into our analysis a multilingual multimedia corpus of film dialogues (FORLIXT 1), which we consider particularly useful for comparison purposes, together with corpora of spontaneous speech and informal communication (LIP, C-ORAL-ROM). From all these corpora we extract contexts containing the Italian word magari (a very frequent gambit word in colloquial communication), analyze them taking into account all data available, and compare results from different types of corpora. Starting from previous studies on magari, we shall be able to deal at least with the following issues:  If hypotheses concerning the use of magari can be empirically confirmed both in spontaneous dialogues of everyday life and in fictional film dialogues.  Significant differences in the use of magari depending on spontaneous or fictional situations.  How contexts containing magari are treated and rendered in German dubbing of original Italian film dialogues.  How magari is used in Italian dubbing of original German or Austrian film dialogues Thanks to multidimensional annotation, extremely flexible query system and multimedia support in FORLIXT, it is possible to take into account all visual and acoustic information transmitted in every film scene in which magari is found. As a general result, contrastive analysis, translation teaching and translation evaluation can take significant advantage from these new opportunities
