This contribution sums up recent development in corpus linguistics and argues for a reconsideration of our implicit assumptions about what constitutes adequate linguistic evidence in English corpus linguistics. In particular, it suggests that this should be systematically extended to include the ways in which English is written and spoken in the real world, by means of more and more hybrid genres and in contact settings, including both traditional and new forms of translation.

Abstract
This contribution sums up recent development in corpus linguistics and argues for a reconsideration of our implicit assumptions about what constitutes adequate linguistic evidence in English corpus linguistics. In particular, it suggests that this should be systematically extended to include the ways in which English is written and spoken in the real world, by means of more and more hybrid genres and in contact settings, including both traditional and new forms of translation.File in questo prodotto:
