Microstructure of the sagitta otoliths of the inner ear European anchovy from Northern and Middle Adriatic Sea were analyzed by SEM. The shape profile of the otoliths and the crystalline surface on sulcus acusticus showed morphological differences between sites. These microstructural differences could be biomarkers related to two anchovy forms.
