The developments of artificial intelligence show an oscillatory course among different points of attraction. The history of this disciplinary field has had a peculiar way of telling by opposing paradigms or antithetical approaches. Such a historical perspective has had a theoretical influence too, despite reconstructions based on methodological and epistemological all-embracing principles, such as the synthetic method. In this paper, I address an evaluation of artificial intelligence history of science and make a comparison with the developments of synthetic biology to find the points of contact with artificial intelligence and its “synthetic” aspects.

Abstract
The developments of artificial intelligence show an oscillatory course among different points of attraction. The history of this disciplinary field has had a peculiar way of telling by opposing paradigms or antithetical approaches. Such a historical perspective has had a theoretical influence too, despite reconstructions based on methodological and epistemological all-embracing principles, such as the synthetic method. In this paper, I address an evaluation of artificial intelligence history of science and make a comparison with the developments of synthetic biology to find the points of contact with artificial intelligence and its “synthetic” aspects.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
