The aura symptomatology, such as the seizure, is the result of the activation of specific brain areas, the location and extension of which represents the symptomatogenic zone. However, the symptomatogenic zone may not correspond to the epileptogenic zone, the complete removal or disconnection of which is necessary for seizure freedom. Therefore, for an optimal surgical outcome the correct localization of the epileptogenic zone should be acquired. As the initial symptoms of epileptic seizures, many types of auras have a highly significant localizing or lateralizing value even though extreme caution should be exercised when analyzing them.

Abstract
The aura symptomatology, such as the seizure, is the result of the activation of specific brain areas, the location and extension of which represents the symptomatogenic zone. However, the symptomatogenic zone may not correspond to the epileptogenic zone, the complete removal or disconnection of which is necessary for seizure freedom. Therefore, for an optimal surgical outcome the correct localization of the epileptogenic zone should be acquired. As the initial symptoms of epileptic seizures, many types of auras have a highly significant localizing or lateralizing value even though extreme caution should be exercised when analyzing them.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
