Religione e filosofia nell’età dei Lumi. Qualche considerazione per servire da introduzione.

The conference organized in Bologna by Cesarina Casanova, Francesca Sofia and Vincenzo Lagioia (Dipartimento di Storia Culture Civiltà, 28-29 April 2014) has shown the complexity of the relationship between religion and culture of 18th century, helping to correct the prejudice of an Enlightenment as irreligious if not atheist, and multiplying its images through analysis of significant figures and interesting cases. This introduction intends to retrace a path among the studies presented at the conference which, questioning the culture of this age through the idea of religion, have shown the Enlightenment’s certitudes, but also have highlighted some conceptual difficulties and intellectual variations in the delicate fields of philosophy and biblical exegesis, national institutions and political legislation, ecclesiastical history and literary genres.
