Rural landscape represents an habitat which combines production and aesthetics: a place for the cultivation of material goods for food and energy needs, and at the same time aesthetic expression of magnificence, ornament and beauty for the ‘pleasure of the people’. All citizens play an active role in its sustainable management, of rural landscapes, that is the reflection of people’s needs, and development of expressed and latent potentials of places. Innovative approaches and methods are proposed to address these issues thorough participatory processes, where the population is directly involved in the sustainable transformation of landscape.

Abstract
