The success of organic agriculture and its market represents an example of the growing awareness toward sustainability of agriculture and food consumption. Indeed, organic consumption can be described in terms of “agro-ecological consumerism”, a phenomenon that moves in opposition to the food and environmental global risks and that could be considered as a driver of sustainable development. However, at the same time organic market seems to be more and more compromised within the global agro-industrial system. In fact, the agro-ecological consumerism can be interpreted as an integrated and systemic social response to the global risks, the results of many individual purchasing choices, rather than an expression of a "glocal reflexivity" phenomenon, in which action is focused on community participation for common good. Throughout the analysis of agro-ecological consumerism and its social consequences.
