In the last few years the concept of smart city is came in an important way into the scientific debate. Not only for the development of urban context but also for the future of the city itself. In fact we are now facing important challenges in term of resources availability, population and immigration growth, and the Smart City’s concept is intended to give an holistic answer to most of those challenges. But how the city could become smart? Who are the stakeholders that have to interact into those kinds of projects? And how they interact? The paper wants to draw the attention to some of those elements in order to propose different solutions for the development of sustainable district in a smart dimension. The paper is the result of a researching process aiming to questioning the usual cities development in order to find innovative solutions.
