In this paper we study the role of the Dollar as international currency after the introduction of the Euro in the international monetary arena. The focus of this paper is about the analysis of macroeconomic consequences for the US economy following an eventual decision of OPEC of quoting oil in terms of Euros in place of Dollars. The analysis reviews the basic theories behind the determination of the invoice currency in a partial equilibrium setting.

Abstract
