The article is devoted to the analysis of a field research, conducted in Italy in two Russian “Saturday” schools, in Rome and Milan, with Russian-speaking bilingual children. The aim of the test was to identify children’s problems and difficulties in written and oral Russian language acquisition and maintenance. The results show different levels of competence in bilingual children, depending on age and family condition of Russian language acquisition and on the period of study Russian in Italy or in the country of origin. The most significant errors were identified both at the morpho-syntactic and the narrative level of the test.
