This paper presents the preliminary results of an interdisciplinary activity which provides the collaboration of archaeologists and computer scientists. In particular this work is related to an extension of a commonly adopted model for representing stratigraphic diagrams aimed at increasing its expressiveness and supporting the analysis and interpretation of the related data to support the detection of archaeological phases.
