This essay deals with the problem of the reconstruction of philosophical arguments in the history of philosophy and ideas. To what extent is right to find a principle which, starting from an assumption, provides a ground and a logical arrangement for an inquiry about topics and events that actually have taken place in history? To explain philosophy in history prevents preconceived readings, brings face to face with contrast and variety, and reveals the assumptions and prejudices which gave rise to different inquiries. The paper, then, proposes to examine the conditions of a possible translation of philosophical arguments in accordance with their historical reality, by highlighting the ideological threats of arbitrary reconstructions.

Abstract
This essay deals with the problem of the reconstruction of philosophical arguments in the history of philosophy and ideas. To what extent is right to find a principle which, starting from an assumption, provides a ground and a logical arrangement for an inquiry about topics and events that actually have taken place in history? To explain philosophy in history prevents preconceived readings, brings face to face with contrast and variety, and reveals the assumptions and prejudices which gave rise to different inquiries. The paper, then, proposes to examine the conditions of a possible translation of philosophical arguments in accordance with their historical reality, by highlighting the ideological threats of arbitrary reconstructions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
