The paper reports some results from an extensive piezocone testing campaign performed at the Treporti Test Site (Venice, Italy) within a long-lasting research project aimed at developing a reliable geotechnical model of the heterogeneous and highly-layered Venetian lagoon subsoil. The project also included the construction of a full scale cylindrical test bank and its subsequent removal, in conjunction with a very detailed monitoring system. The analysis of the large amount of piezocone data thus available, performed in different phases of the applied loading history, is here focused on the assessment of the in situ soil state, expressed in terms of the critical state based parameter . Starting from previous experiences on this issue developed by other researchers and mainly based on calibration chamber tests, we provide a preliminary attempt to evaluate  using simple procedures and to investigate the effectiveness of such methods in capturing changes in Venetian soil state.

Abstract
The paper reports some results from an extensive piezocone testing campaign performed at the Treporti Test Site (Venice, Italy) within a long-lasting research project aimed at developing a reliable geotechnical model of the heterogeneous and highly-layered Venetian lagoon subsoil. The project also included the construction of a full scale cylindrical test bank and its subsequent removal, in conjunction with a very detailed monitoring system. The analysis of the large amount of piezocone data thus available, performed in different phases of the applied loading history, is here focused on the assessment of the in situ soil state, expressed in terms of the critical state based parameter . Starting from previous experiences on this issue developed by other researchers and mainly based on calibration chamber tests, we provide a preliminary attempt to evaluate using simple procedures and to investigate the effectiveness of such methods in capturing changes in Venetian soil state.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
