Abstract
Everyday life is part of everyone’s experience: it is the stable, reassuring background of our daily expe-riences, the realm of certainty, stability, obviousness and—at least apparently—irrelevance. Preciselydue to its ordinary nature, everyday life typically remains unnoticed, rarely drawing our attentionor the interests of scientific research. Adopting a phenomenological approach to educational events, this article challenges this conception by theoretically discussing and empirically illustrating the edu-cational value inherent to ordinary life and the small talks that punctuate it. Focusing particularly onfamily conversations, the article demonstrates how apparently banal parent-child interactions encap-sulateworldviewsand moralmeanings, tacitly ratifying them andpassingthem on tonew generations.By enlightening the educational value of everyday family life and talks, the article makes relevant theneed for a reflexive approach to ordinary experiences, fostering our awareness and “epistemic vigi-lance” toward the constitutive educational power of everyday life and social interactions.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
