The increasing demand for precision in various sectors, including agriculture, has led to the development of new monitoring systems tailored to specific applications. These systems frequently use probes available on market; however, integrating these probes with custom-built systems needs validation of the recorded measurements. This paper presents a methodology for performing a calibration procedure when probes fail the validation test in a real case study. The results demonstrate that comparing measurements from the investigated sensors with those from a high-precision reference sensor, combined with the application of simple correlation methods, can significantly improve sensor precision, enabling them to pass the validation test.

Abstract

The increasing demand for precision in various sectors, including agriculture, has led to the development of new monitoring systems tailored to specific applications. These systems frequently use probes available on market; however, integrating these probes with custom-built systems needs validation of the recorded measurements. This paper presents a methodology for performing a calibration procedure when probes fail the validation test in a real case study. The results demonstrate that comparing measurements from the investigated sensors with those from a high-precision reference sensor, combined with the application of simple correlation methods, can significantly improve sensor precision, enabling them to pass the validation test.
