The contribution reconstructs some essential moments in the history of Italian Spinozism between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, reflecting on the persistence of a common thread present in the interpretations of different authors: from Rosmini to Gentile, from Gioberti to Martinetti. The concluding part of the introduction pays particular attention to the reception of Spinoza in the twentieth century and in Italian Marxism.
