Nuove ricerche nella necropoli "I Pini" a Sirolo (Ancona)

The contribution presents the research project carried out on the “I Pini” necropolis of Sirolo (AN), one of the funerary areas of pre-Roman Numana, which occupy a vast territory of the current municipalities of Sirolo and Numana (AN). The recent project is part of a broader long-term research program conducted by the University of Bologna on the necropolis and topography of ancient Numana. The new research program on the “I Pini” necropolis aims to expand our knowledge of this prominent funerary context and to integrate it into the wider framework of research on the topography of the Picene emporion. This site represents a key area of investigation for understanding the Numana community in a crucial phase in its history. Through applying a multidisciplinary research perspective and using advanced investigation methods, the project provides new data on the necropolis and, more generally, on many features and the development of the ancient Picene center.
