Nicole Brossard en Italie : histoire éditoriale et traductive d’une réception fragmentaire

This article explores the reception of Canadian author Nicole Brossard in Italy from an editorial and transla-tional perspective, focusing on the agents or intermediaries of translation. This major contemporary writer – a poet, novelist, and essayist, as well as a feminist and lesbian activist – remains largely unknown in Italy. Only a few works have been occasionally and discontinuously translated since the late 1980s and published in very different contexts, often as part of specific projects. Drawing on the theoretical and methodological frameworks offered by the sociology of translation and feminist translation studies, the analysis focuses on the different editorial contexts, as well as on the agents of translation – publishers and translators – in order to identify their role in the translation process. To this end, translators’ interventions in the peritexts of Italian translations are examined, and their feminist dimension is discussed.
