DER „GIARDINO POLIGLOTTA“ DES UNI-CAMPUS IN FORLÌ (BOLOGNA)

The Giardino Poliglotta (Polyglot Garden), a cultural policy initiative based at the University of Bologna's Forlì campus, is best described as a constantly evolving cultural and socio-political project comprising loosely interwoven micro-projects. Its primary objectives include: promoting language skills; addressing issues of multilingualism and plurilingualism, as well as environmental questions; communicating scientifically sound knowledge in a popular science format within the framework of lifelong learning; and fostering social cohesion. After providing an overview of the major key objectives, this article explains the background and guiding principles of the Giardino Poliglotta in more detail, offering a brief outline of some of the micro-projects undertaken thus far. Finally, it concludes with a critical look at open issues concerning information landscapes and multilingualism.
