The modifications induced by a weak disorder on ferromagnetic and ferroelectric systems is studied in the realm of the mean-field approximation. It is found that the disorder, both structural (off-site) and chemical (on site) tends to enhance the Curie temperature, with respect to the value resulting from the ideal "average" crystal. The only exception is the Heisenberg model with structural disorder, for which a model-dependent decrease is possible, due to the interplay between disorder and spin waves.

Abstract
The modifications induced by a weak disorder on ferromagnetic and ferroelectric systems is studied in the realm of the mean-field approximation. It is found that the disorder, both structural (off-site) and chemical (on site) tends to enhance the Curie temperature, with respect to the value resulting from the ideal "average" crystal. The only exception is the Heisenberg model with structural disorder, for which a model-dependent decrease is possible, due to the interplay between disorder and spin waves.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
