Timpanaro insistently opposed materialism to dialectics, which he understood as a form of resignation to the negative. The importance that 18th-century materialists and Giacomo Leopardi's philosophy would assume in this sense is well known, but perhaps it was the experience of the atomic bomb and his encounter with Dario Paccino that led Timpanaro to realize that the body sets limits not only on dialectics, but also on science.

Abstract
Timpanaro insistently opposed materialism to dialectics, which he understood as a form of resignation to the negative. The importance that 18th-century materialists and Giacomo Leopardi's philosophy would assume in this sense is well known, but perhaps it was the experience of the atomic bomb and his encounter with Dario Paccino that led Timpanaro to realize that the body sets limits not only on dialectics, but also on science.File in questo prodotto:
