La dottrina del maestro Mo‘in-e Saffār. Una dossografia della prima parte del poema mistico persiano “La Lampada degli Spiriti" (Mesbāh al-Arvāh) di Shams al-din Bardasiri (XII-XIII sec.)

The article presents an annotated synthesis of the first part of the Persian mystical poem 'The Lamp of Spirits' (Mesbāh al-Arvāh) by Shams al-din Bardasiri (12th-13th century), a work long attributed to Owhad al-din Kermāni, with a focus on its complex doxography. In fact, through the words of the master Mo‘in-e Saffār to his disciple and narrator, 'The Lamp of Lights' presents itself not only as a compendium of mystical teachings, but also, one might say, as a small encyclopaedia in verse of early 13th-century knowledge, from cosmology to the natural sciences and human anatomy, from the resurrection to the pious life, from astrology to the meaning of prayer, from the disciple-master relationship to the role of Iblis in the world, from the 'evolutionary ladder' to the concept of death. And there emerges an author about whom there is little documentary information, who is not only a refined poet who knows Sanā’i and Nāser-e Khosrow, but also an eclectic intellectual, who draws on theology and mysticism, but also on the language of philosophers and scientists, who is essentially a mystic placed in the Sufi tradition, but with sympathies for certain doctrines of the Shiite matrix and a particular attention to the other great monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianism.

L’articolo presenta una sintesi commentata della prima parte del poema mistico persiano “La Lampada degli Spiriti” (Mesbāh al-Arvāh) di Shams al-din Bardasiri (XII-XIII sec.), opera a lungo attribuita a Owhad al-din Kermāni, con particolare attenzione alla sua complessa dossografia. In effetti, attraverso le parole del maestro Mo‘in-e Saffār al suo discepolo e io narrante, “La Lampada degli Spiriti” si presenta non solo come un compendio di dottrine mistiche ma anche si direbbe come una piccola enciclopedia in versi dello scibile all’altezza degli inizi del XIII secolo, riguardante una congerie di argomenti: dalla cosmologia alle scienze naturali e l’anatomia umana, dalla Resurrezione alla vita devota, dall’astrologia al significato della preghiera, dal rapporto allievo-maestro al ruolo di Iblis nel mondo, dalla “scala evolutiva” al concetto di morte. Ed emerge un autore, di cui scarseggiano le notizie documentali, che non è soltanto un raffinato poeta che conosce Sanā’i e Nāser-e Khosrow, ma anche un intellettuale eclettico, che attinge alla teologia e alla mistica come pure al linguaggio di filosofi e scienziati, che è in sostanza un mistico inquadrabile nella tradizione sufi, ma con simpatie per alcune dottrine di matrice sciita e una attenzione particolare per le altre grandi fedi monoteiste: giudaismo, cristianesimo e zoroastrismo.
