The archival document presents itself as a repository of individual and collective memory. As such, it presents itself as an object compiled and composed in such a way as to be recorded, preserved, consulted and disseminated, according to common sharing criteria, both collectively and individually. As such, it can be conceptually understood as a materially extended representation of memory. The procedures, modes and forms of its representation, tangible or intangible, represent aspects of the repertory models under which the documents themselves fall. This definition suggests and recalls the fundamental characteristic of the archival document. Indeed, it manifests itself as a structured representation of an act or fact produced by a subject in the course of his or her activities and recorded on an external support, which, like a prosthesis that extends memorative functions, from a common set of information, receives and responds to the intentions of those who interrogate the memory itself.

Abstract
The archival document presents itself as a repository of individual and collective memory. As such, it presents itself as an object compiled and composed in such a way as to be recorded, preserved, consulted and disseminated, according to common sharing criteria, both collectively and individually. As such, it can be conceptually understood as a materially extended representation of memory. The procedures, modes and forms of its representation, tangible or intangible, represent aspects of the repertory models under which the documents themselves fall. This definition suggests and recalls the fundamental characteristic of the archival document. Indeed, it manifests itself as a structured representation of an act or fact produced by a subject in the course of his or her activities and recorded on an external support, which, like a prosthesis that extends memorative functions, from a common set of information, receives and responds to the intentions of those who interrogate the memory itself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
